The egg contains two compartments: one for a scented sponge and one for the ointment. The egg consists of four parts. The part with the holes has some damage consistent with its age. The egg may have been hallmarked, but the hallmarks are difficult to read. See photos. Height 42 mm, diameter 22 mm. Dated 18th century. Such items were often made in Germany. Weight: 18. 9 grams.
