Igor Arrieta
CERU | Co-Vocal for Policy and Scientific Diplomacy
After completing his undergraduate studies in Mathematics at the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU, he obtained a Cambridge Trust scholarship to pursue the Master in Pure Mathematics at the University of Cambridge. He then moved to the University of Coimbra for his PhD studies, where he was part of the Algebra, Logic and Topology research group at CMUC. After a short period as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU, he is now back in the UK as a postdoctoral researcher in the Theory Group at the University of Birmingham under the supervision of Professor Achim Jung. His research focuses on categorical, algebraic and fundamental aspects of topology. He has an interest in science policy and politics in general. He is co-director of the Department of Science Policy at CERU and co-vocalist of the Commission on Science Policy and Diplomacy at RAICEX.
